This project introduced fundamental tools and techniques for creating 3D assets in Autodesk Maya. Starting from a series of reference photos of a hydrant found at East Tennessee State University campus, we covered how to block out objects for scale and then work in iterations to construct a fire hydrant to a high degree of visual accuracy. A difficulty we faced during this project was making sure we have quad based topology. Involved usages of tools such as edge loops, booleans, the append polygon tool. Emphasis was also placed on developing personal workflows to optimize the modeling process.
Rendering done in Arnold and Maya Hardware 2.0. Compositing of render images done in Photopea.
